Instagram

 Its been a month or so since I managed to set up an account on Instagram or  'Instagran' as my kids call it. It's a learning curve.

I posted a photo of my WIP ( sorting the mini warehouse ) and , again on the advice of my kids, instead of  using #Toronto, I  used  #the six   or  #the6,  a current nickname for this town. Well, I must have had every DJ, pop-up nightclub, strip-joint and more in town  ' like' this piccie.

Later, I posted a photograph of a vintage souvenir scarf from my etsy shop ( I seem to have deleted the original)   of Atlantic City.  OH DEAR  -  every stripper  and more  in New Jersey liked that one . Some I had removed from the  Instagram site,  I know, I'm such an old killjoy

getting near to winter

This autumn has been specially glorious.

Specially at dawn and dusk.

The last rays of light over my neighbours roof, seen from my bedroom window.

In our backyard

the dogwood is turning a purple/bronze,

and even the hostas are golden.

I expect the trees will be bare in a few days time  - it was nice while it lasted.

Last market

My last market morning for the season at The Brickworks Farmers Market.

Its quite nice to be next to Southbrook Vineyards. - actually,it's nice to be next to just about all of the other vendors, who are always so friendly,interesting and helpful.

 A satisfied customer dropped by to model the vintage curling jacket he bought last weekend.

 But, to tell the truth it has not been the greatest season for me. I had tons of customers oohing and aahing, looking through every bit of linen

 and examining and measuring every quilt- but, they just were not buying.

Ahh well,there's always next year .

yesterday

A nice crisp day for  the Trick or Treaters.

Our street gets ready.

Better sweep the front steps in case anyone has an accident.

Now out kids have grown all we have to do is carve a couple of pumpkins and wait.

Ding-dong,

 We take it in turns to answer the door and/or get dinner ready.

Not specially imaginative this year, but spirits are high.

The bigger kids start coming at about 7.30.

 and by 8.30 its all over for another year.

Grandparents day

We were so excited last week as  our grandsons school was having Grandparents Day.

Like any other downtown Toronto school it was a veritable United Nations. The children said  " Good morning and welcome" in 8 different languages

The place was jammed! But then, most kids have 4 grandparents.

There was a concert - the junior choir sang ' Blue Skies' in a complex and sophisticated arrangement.

We stuffed ourselves at the desert table and the kids showed us their classrooms.

Guess which one is ours.

scarf alert!

Not a bad couple of weeks of thrift shop trolling.

Two traditional Liberty paisley scarves. Somewhat stronger colors than I prefer but I not saying no to a couple of bucks each. More for my collection.

 Two Hermes scarves, classic  ' Casques Plumets' in perfect condition.

and ' Les Artificiers' very gently worn. I can see I will get a lot of wear from this one.

Of course, lots more interesting scarves making their way into foulardfantastique.
