Oh dear.......this small cerulean warbler must have flown into a window this morning and is lying dead on my deck. Poor wee thing.
According to my bird book we last caught sight of one in the garden in 1991.
But life goes on and the first warm day saw my old lilac tree starting to bloom
and a newer ( about 7 years old ) 'Yellow Bird 'magnolia tree
looking very healthy
.
Summer? bring it on.
Poor little bird! We often had birds flying into the window at my parents' house, too. or birds who got into the chimney ... Our Lilac started blooming really early, and it's almost over now. It's a white one, but each year we are having at least one flower like yours! xxx
ReplyDeleteThe good news is, that's a Black Throated Blue Warbler (a Cerulean has a white throat)and they're not endangered. The bad news is, it is still dead.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I thought it was a male warbler
DeleteAt least it would have been quick - unlike getting 'played with' by one of my cats :(
ReplyDeleteyes, in the 0ld days when our dear Smokey was alive she would have been out there in a flash!
DeleteAw - poor wee bird. I hate to see that happen. How I wish I could bury my nose in your lilacs, but not something my allergies would deal well with.
