A splendid ,large wall hanging at Whangarei Central Library.
A vibrant field of hand knitted ( and perhaps crocheted ) poppies made to commemorate the Anzac Day centennial
Apparently this was made by a local library staff member - that's all I could find out.
I love it, so warm, tender, hands on and sad.
Come on Whangarei, give me more information.
Re-think......perhaps the fact that the maker is anonymous makes it all the more poignant.
Those poppies are fantastic, whoever made them. xxx
ReplyDeleteits very moving
DeleteThat is so impressive and moving! The use of symbolic poppies has spurred so many beautiful commemorations over the years. I love this one.
ReplyDeleteyes, its still on my mind
DeleteThat really is lovely. Do you think they will keep it up as a permanent display after Anzac Day?
ReplyDeleteThat was the impression I got, I hope so. The librarian I spoke to was very vague.
ReplyDeleteHow incredible! Reminds me of the massive numbers of poppies that were at the Tower of London a couple of years ago.
ReplyDeleteyes, I think it was a universal theme.
